Jhumkas are the highest-volume earring category in India, so small differences in wholesale price add up fast. Knowing what drives the rate helps you choose designs for each price tier and compare quotes properly.
What drives jhumka wholesale price
Two jhumkas that look alike in a catalogue photo can differ several times in price. The main reasons are:
- Size and weight: more metal, more cost.
- Base metal: brass costs more than zinc alloy (Mazak).
- Construction and top design: a solid dome versus a hollow one, the number of separate parts joined together, and detailed deity or peacock tops.
- Stones and drops: kemp, CZ or Kundan setting, and the number and quality of pearl or bead drops.
- Finish: antique relief and matte work take more labour than a simple bright finish.
- Fittings: screw backs and support chains cost more than simple hooks.
- Quantity: jhumkas are small, so factory MOQs are higher (400 pairs per design at Jagruti), and the unit price falls as quantity per design rises.
Buying jhumkas in bulk
Pick your fastest-moving shapes, order them deeper, and add new designs in smaller quantities. Keep matching ear chains for bridal jhumkas. Read jhumka wholesale guide.
Getting factory rates
Order fewer designs at higher quantities rather than many designs at the minimum, and ask for the price at 400, 800 and 1,200 pairs per design to see the price breaks. Confirm the weight and fittings on the approved sample, so a lower price is not achieved by quietly lightening the casting or cheapening the hooks.
Send design codes from our catalogue (we have over a hundred jhumka and earring designs) with quantities of 400 pcs or more per design. We reply with factory rates and lead time, usually the same day. See the price list page.
Quality checks that protect margin
Matched pairs, straight-hanging bells, secure drops, smooth posts. Returns eat into jhumka margins more than any other category.
An example of tiered ordering
A distributor might order two everyday oxidised jhumka designs at 800 pcs each, three festive temple jhumka designs at 500 pcs each, and one bridal jhumka with matching ear chain at 400 pcs. That spreads budget across price tiers, keeps the fastest movers deep, and limits risk on the premium design.
Packing and presentation
Jhumkas sell faster on display cards. For online sellers, individual boxes protect the bells in courier. Agree packing at the quote stage, since it affects the rate.
