Kemp jewellery is the red-and-green stone work you see on almost every South Indian bridal counter: Lakshmi haarams, mango malas, broad chokers, vaddanam waist belts and heavy jhumkas. In real temple jewellery the stones were rubies and emeralds. In imitation, kemp (kempu) stones are cut and polished coloured glass, set by hand into an antique gold frame. Every design is made to order: send a photo or sketch through the enquiry form and we quote a factory rate and lead time. Our standard MOQ is 200 pcs per design (400 for earrings and pendants), and a mixed order of several designs is fine as long as each design meets it.
Why buy kemp from the factory, not a trader
Kemp work is labour-heavy. Each stone is placed and set by a karigar, which is why kemp pieces vary so much in quality between suppliers. Buying direct from the factory that sets the stones gives you three things a trader cannot: you approve a physical sample before the bulk run, you see ready stock on a WhatsApp video call before you pay the balance, and every unit is checked against that approved sample. For a distributor supplying dozens of counters, that consistency is what keeps returns down.
