Ganesh Chaturthi is Maharashtra's biggest festival and is celebrated widely in Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat and beyond. Families bring Ganesha home, visit public pandals and dress in traditional clothes. Women often wear Maharashtrian jewellery with nauvari or Paithani sarees.

- Green bangle sets with gold-tone patlis
- Ganesha pendants and motif jewellery

Ganesha motif jewellery
Ganesha pendants, earrings and temple pieces sell well during the festival and as gifts. Respectful, well-finished depictions with clear features matter: customers notice poor detail on deity designs.
Cultural performances
Many societies and pandals host cultural programmes, where performers and participants wear traditional jewellery.
We manufacture Maharashtrian pieces and Ganesha designs at 200 pcs per design (400 for earrings and pendants). See bridal jewellery manufacturer, Maharashtrian jewellery and the Pune guide.
Common mistakes
Running out of naths midway through the festival. Because Ganesh Chaturthi lasts up to ten days, with visiting, aartis and immersion processions, demand continues after the first day. Keep a top-up plan ready.
A sample order
A Mumbai or Pune distributor might order two clip-on nath designs, a thushi, a green bangle patli set and a Ganesha pendant set, at MOQ quantities (200+ pcs per heavy design, 400+ per earring or pendant design).
Beyond Maharashtra
Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Goa and Gujarat also celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with public pandals. Festive jewellery demand rises in these cities too.
How the date is set, and why it moves
Ganesh Chaturthi falls on the fourth day of the bright half of the month of Bhadrapada, usually in August or September, and the festival continues for up to ten days until Anant Chaturdashi. Because the festival follows the lunar (or luni-solar) calendar, its date on the Gregorian calendar shifts from year to year. Check the date for the coming year as soon as the new panchang or calendar is published, and plan factory orders backwards from it rather than from last year's date.
Why jewellery matters at Ganesh Chaturthi
In Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and beyond, Ganesh Chaturthi brings Ganesha idols into homes and public pandals for up to ten days. Families dress in traditional clothes for aarti, visits and processions. In Maharashtra, the nauvari saree with a nath, thushi and traditional jewellery is a common festival look, especially at cultural events.
Selling tips
- Stock Maharashtrian traditional pieces for the festival look.
- Keep light pieces for long days of visits and processions.
A ready-made assortment
| Piece | Share of the order | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Naths and thushis | About a third | Maharashtrian festival look |
| Traditional necklace sets | About a quarter | Nauvari looks |
| Ganesha motif pendants | About a fifth | Respectful designs |
| Bangles and earrings | The rest | Add-ons |
After the season
Navratri follows within weeks, so move to oxidised and festive stock quickly. Record what sold by design, colour and price point in the final week, while it is fresh. That record is the best guide to next year's order.
Selling online for this occasion
Maharashtrian families in other cities buy festival jewellery online; nath and thushi photos worn on a model help.
Display ideas
Show a nauvari saree look with nath, thushi and bangles, and a small section of Ganesha motif pendants displayed respectfully.
Briefing your staff
Staff should suggest complete traditional looks for aarti and cultural events, and lighter pieces for long days of visits.
Working with your manufacturer for this season
Confirm designs and quantities by June, so production (about a month for made-to-order designs), approval and transport all fit before your shelves need the stock. Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri follow each other closely, so plan both orders together to use production time well and avoid a rush in August. Ask the factory to keep a record of the approved finish and stone colours, so any mid-season re-order matches the first batch.
